In Year 5, we have been learning about Islam in RE. We have been learning about the religion as well as the Muslim place of Worship. Therefore, we decided to visit a Mosque in Cardiff where we could see first hand what it was like inside.
Not only did we visit a mosque, we also visited a nearby Church in Cardiff which allowed us to discuss similarities and differences between the two different places of worship.
We also had great fun having lunch at Cardiff Bay and enjoyed the Autumn sunshine :)
We were lucky enough to be given a demonstration of the Islamic call to prayer. Take a look at our video below!
In Geography, we are learning about islands. We researched an island of our choice and recorded the facts in our books.
In Science we are learning about Solids, Liquids and Gases.
We looked at how an ice cube can change to more than one state of matter.
In English, we are reading Why The Whales Came. We have been discussing Samson Island and what we think it would be like. Then, we recorded these fantastic adjectives in our books using a mindmap.
Which adjectives would you use to describe this island?
This term, we have been learning about The Salvation Army. We have looked at the work of William Booth as well as Catherine Booth. We have also discussed the work of the Salvation Army and the different groups of people they help.
Take a look at our Wordfoto images which describe The Salvation Army.

We have been working really hard on our Welsh and have enjoyed learning some new games to help us develop our use of the Welsh language.
Our favourite game at the moment is secret agent although Miss Williams loves the sound of us singing the days of the week!

We had a fantastic day at St Fagans during the Spring Term. We were able to visit the Victorian classroom as well as the houses during the Victorian period.
