Our topic this term is The Tudors. We have been looking at the different monarchs as well as discussing Henry VIII and his 6 wives. In Art, we looked at different types of flags from all over the world and discussed the use/ need for flags. This then led us to look at Tudor flags.
Mrs James gave us a brief: Design a Tudor flag which must include the Tudor Rose and only the colours white and red.
We designed 4 different flags and then chose our favourite one to make below. Some of us used paint and others used tissue paper.
Our learning log challenge was to design and collect materials to make a mini beast home. We had to choose a mini beast and the house had to be made from recyclable materials. We then made it in class and put them into our woodland area. We hope we find some visitors inside!
In Science, we have been learning about mini beasts and their different habitats.
We visited Cogmoors and did some fantastic activities. We went on a mini beast hunt, completed a water challenge and went pond dipping. It was great fun!
Rounding up and down
In Maths, we have been learning how to round numbers up and down. We have been looking very closely at the units number to help us decide UP or DOWN?
In English, we have been looking at books written by Anne Fine. We also researched the life of Anne Fine and produced some super posters to display our research.
We took our posters down to Year 3 for them to peer assess our work- they told us 2 things they liked about our poster and 1 thing we could improve on. Thank you Year 3!
