Curricular Aims

Through quality teaching, learning and the provision of opportunity our children should be encouraged:
  • To communicate clearly and confidently in speech, reading and writing with particular reference to the rules governing correct English usage and spelling.
  • To read accurately and fluently, with understanding and discrimination, thus developing a wide vocabulary.
  • To be able to apply the skills of Information Technology with speed and accuracy and use these skills in all aspects of the curriculum.
  • To develop language across the curriculum to develop independence of learning.
  • To develop the skills required for investigating problems in mathematics and science, and apply these skills in appropriate situations.
  • To develop computation and conceptual skills within the mathematics curriculum.
  • To develop the skills required to gather information from a variety of sources.
  • To develop a growing awareness of scientific processes and the skills required to carry out an investigation.
  • To be given the opportunity to develop an inquiring mind, enabling considered opinions to be acted upon.
  • To experience situations which will develop their self-expression through art, world music, PE, dance, poetry and drama.
  • To develop a sense of 'welshness' in the curriculum, and instill a sense of pride in the language and culture.
  • To develop the skills and resources required to deliver design/technology within the curriculum.
  • To develop the skills and resources required to deliver the humanities within the school.
  • To develop physical fitness and a healthy life style.
  • To develop an awareness of an obligation to society, through a knowledge of Christian attitudes learnt through the Bible and the lives of great men and women.
  • To purse Agenda 2001, think locally, act globally
  • To give the opportunity to develop general knowledge.
  • To foster an appreciation of chronology and the key elements of the history curriculum.
  • To develop an awareness of other cultures worldwide where possible through first hand experience.
  • To broaden and apply the curriculum and enhance its relevance through links with EBP and other agencies.
